How can we improve heart health in kidney patients?
Dr Soma Meran at Cardiff University is leading a study to discover what causes heart disease in patients with kidney disease.
Heart disease is a leading cause of death in kidney patients. Dr Meran believes this may be because of the high levels of inflammation that kidney disease causes, leading to changes in the walls of arteries.
By studying the links between kidney disease and heart disease, Dr Meran’s work could help identify new treatments to better protect the heart health of kidney patients and save lives.
