Festive fundraising toolkit

This Christmas we need your help.  We want as many supporters as possible to join #TeamKidney and grab your Santa hat, Christmas jumper and lace up your trainers with tinsel for our festive fundraising campaign.

Spread the word on social media

Social media is a great way to let people know what challenge you are taking on and how they can sponsor or donate to you. First things first, make sure you follow us on the social platforms using the links below:

Festive fundraising ideas!

Christmas is a time of year you can really get creative and go all out with entertaining fundraising activities and raise money to fund
vital research into kidney disease.

12 days of Christmas, 12 festive fundraising ideas...

  1. Festive Fancy dress - Wearing a Christmas jumper or bobble hat at work, school or home is one of the simplest and most popular ways to fundraise during the festive season.  Set a date of your choice and ask everyone you know to make a donation to take part. You could also hold a competition for the best festive dress.
  2. Host a Christmas quiz - Embrace your competitive spirit and put your knowledge to the test and play our fun festive quiz. Play with friends and family or organise a Christmas quiz at work, local pub or community centre.  Download our Christmas Quiz here or come up with your own and charge people to take part.
  3. Hold a 'Carol-oke'! - Carol singing is synonymous with Christmas, and you don't have to be a Mariah or Buble to do it either! Get together with friends, family or colleagues and turn melodies into funds. Choose a venue, pick some seasonal songs and ask for donations to take part. You could even go and Carol sing at your local shopping centre or even your local street.
  4. Guess the angel - Ask friends or colleagues to bring in photo's of themselves as a baby or toddler and then get everyone to guess who's who for a donation. You could offer a prize for the person with the highest number of correct guesses
  5. Step into Christmas - For each of the 12 days of Christmas, walk, jog or run 12,000 steps or 12km. Create a fundraising page and share with everyone you know and get them to sponsor you, and remember to post pictures on your social channels.
  6. Christmas bake off - Whether it's chestnuts roasting on an open fire, mince pies, yule log, Christmas pudding or other festive treats, selling homemade goods can bring lots of joy, and raise lots of money too! Set up a stall outside your local shops, church service, school event or at work and ask for donations for your yummy treats.
  7. Gift wrapping service - Offer a gift wrapping service to friends, family or colleagues in exchange for a donation. A lot of people find themselves so busy at this time of year, when it comes to wrapping presents they've bought for loved ones, and some just don't like doing it. Get wrapping and remember ribbons and bows mean even bigger donations.
  8. Get crafty -Organise a 'crafternoon' for you, your family and friends, and make seasonal trinkets,. This could be anything from handmade tree decorations to door wreaths, to Christmas cards.  Ask everyone to donate £5 to join in, and then sell your crafts afterwards and raise even more!
  9. Take on a winter challenge - We have winter walks and Santa Dash's, even Christmas bungee jumps for you to get involved in. Take a look at our events page, pick your event, sign up and get asking your friends to donate.
  10. Christmas movie marathon - Muppets Christmas Carol, Elf, Santa Claus the movie, the list is endless. With so many great seasonal films, why not hold a movie marathon, invite your friends, family and colleagues to share the magic. Charge an entry fee, donations for movie choices and seasonal snacks, even ask for a donation to have the best seat in the house.
  11. Pet parade - Everyone loves to see pictures of cute pets dressed in festive fashion. Plan a festive pet parade where friends, family and colleagues can showoff their furry friends in their festive gear. Charge a donation to take part in different categories such as best dressed, waggiest tail, best pup, best veteran and and most festive and offer prizes for the winners.

12. Take the Advent challenge

Can't decide which fundraising idea is the one to go for? Take the Advent Challenge and choose all of them!

Pick one for each of the 12 days and get fundraising.

Create a fundraising page, share with your friends, family and colleagues and get them to sponsor each challenge and post on social media daily to get more donations.
