Raising awareness of early diagnosis in Parliament
Last week we were in Parliament raising awareness of kidney disease and the importance of early diagnosis. The event was organised by Healthy-io, who manufacture a home urine testing device for kidney function.

The event forms part of our work to prevent kidney disease where possible and to protect the kidneys from deteriorating. An early diagnosis enables kidney patients to access the correct advice and treatments as soon as possible with the aim of preventing further decline in kidney function. Home urine testing could form a key part of early detection.
Over 70 MPs and peers attended the event in Parliament and met representatives from Kidney Research UK, Kidney Care UK and the National Kidney Federation.
“We’d like to thank everyone who emailed their MP encouraging them to attend the drop-in.,” said Alison Railton, head of policy and external affairs at Kidney Research UK. “It was great to see so many parliamentarians in attendance. By creating stronger links with the people who represent us, your voice is more likely to be heard – and now these decision makers are even better informed about the importance of early diagnosis.”
