Raising awareness on our doorstep

12 March 2020

Our local support networks are vital to our development as an organisation, and we are delighted to have formed a new partnership with the Peterborough United FC Foundation.

Peterborough United FC Foundation

Operating as the charitable arm of Peterborough’s popular football club known affectionately as ‘The Posh’, the foundation supports community activity and strives to make a difference as far as the club’s fanbase will reach. Together the charity and the foundation plan to raise awareness and funds for research into kidney disease.

In Peterborough and Cambridgeshire alone, around 21,000 people have been diagnosed with kidney disease,” said Maegan Smith, Community and Events Fundraiser at Kidney Research UK. There could be another 10,000 people in this area who have the disease but don’t know it. We want to change this, so more people get the help they need sooner. By forging a new partnership with the Peterborough FC Foundation, we’re hoping to make a difference in our local community – and far beyond.”

“We’ve got a vested interest in helping look after the health of the local community,” says Marvin Robinson, Chief Executive Officer of Peterborough United FC. “We want our team, our staff and volunteers, and our fans to be as fighting fit as possible so we can work, play, cheer and celebrate to the max.”

More news about the activities the two organisations will be working on will be announced soon.
