St Augustine’s scouts came together to support fellow scout

When scouts from St Augstine’s group in the Icknield district, Luton, decided to organise a first class fundraising event, the choice was obvious.

Lydia and Jackie Langley on BBC Look North

Just over two years ago Jackie Langley, from Beverley, donated one of her kidneys to her friend and daughter’s favourite PE teacher David Mason but unfortunately David suffered a heart attack earlier this year and died. Determined to do anything to help Kidney Research UK, Jackie’s 11-year old daughter, Lydia, asked for donations to our charity rather than receive presents and raised an amazing £330.

Heather Manson China Trek

Charity Fundraising Manager, Heather Manson, and a group of Scottish supporters all decided to take action for the charity and trek along the Great Wall of China in order to raise essential funds for research. She’s danced with the locals, slept five-in-a-bed, eaten rice and noodles for breakfast and tomorrow she’ll be sliding down a zip slide over a lake. Therefore, on day six, we managed to drag her away from the karaoke machine to update us on her ‘trip of a lifetime’. This is her story...

Dylan Walsh - Flora London Marathon 2009

Seeing his mother, Tydfil, looking drained and tired after each dialysis session inspired Dylan Walsh to run the Flora London Marathon for Kidney Research UK because he wants to help fund medical research to help his mother and those suffering from kidney failure.

Sarah German - Flora London Marathon 2009

Running for her Daughter, Katie Sarah German completed the marathon in 7:11:30, just behind Katie and Peter Andre. She ran for her daughter, Katie, who will need specialist care for the rest of her life because her left kidney doesn’t function properly.

Neil Cooper - Flora London Marathon 2009

On the 25th anniversary of his father's London Marathon time of 3:43:00, Neil Cooper felt the closest way to actually running the marathon with him would be to try to beat his father's time.

Stuart Manley Flora London Marathon 2009

Covered in glitter and sparkles, with matching pink beard and fairy outfit, Stuart Manley completed the Flora London Marathon in 4:46:19 to support our essential research work in aid of five-year-old Martha Stringer, who suffers from kidney disease.

David's Kilimanjaro experience

David Yates's (25) older sister Jenny (29) was diagnosed with Glomerular Nephritis when she was just 13 years old. Three years ago, she needed a new kidney which their mum was luckily able to donate. David decided that to raise funds for Kidney Research UK he would have to climb one of the highest mountains in the world…

Tony's Great South Run experience

Tony Edwards, 48 decided to participate in the Great South Run for Kidney Research UK this year on behalf of his 5 year old nephew Jacob Shoesmith.
