Colin's story

Colin 2

"At seven years old, my daughter, Laura, was diagnosed with a chronic kidney disease, for which there is no cure. Her kidneys failed when she reached her early twenties, and we waited anxiously for eighteen months until a kidney became available".

"Grateful to get Laura's life back, we became heavily involved with fundraising for Kidney Research UK. We became volunteers for our local Fundraising Support Group. We organise events and fundraising schemes to achieve our current targets, that will provide dialysis machines and other assistance as required for local hospitals".

"I also worked with Laura, who is very gifted musically, to produce a CD of classical piano music. We then managed to get Yamaha to fully finance the production, so that all profits could benefit kidney research. Finding new and innovative ways to raise funds can be a challenging and exciting experience, which I have derived a great deal of satisfaction from".
